1. Developing Language proficiency and teaching methodology for English language teachers in French medium Primary schools in Cameroon.

The Development Committee is funding a three phase project for the Cameroon English Language and Literature Association (CAMELTA). This consists of both language and skills development for English Language Teachers and a number of teacher trainers.

Apart from this financial support, the Development Committee of the International House Trust is providing professional expertise in the form of two trainers who will work in two separate towns for the duration of the project. We will also provide training materials as part of the project, which will remain with the teachers after the International House trainers leave Cameroon. In addition, the Cameroon Ministry of Basic Education, as well as providing local support staff, will itself fund a third trainer from International House for participation in a third town, thus covering the three main provinces of the country.

2. Providing English language Skills to Romanian Orphans entering the world of employment.

International House Bucharest, working with SOS Children’s Villages, aims to provide English language skills to 32 SOS teenagers.

This project has just commenced and we will provide news of its progress very soon.
